The meaning behind MELANIN MADAMS...

So I’m just going to be blunt and just say black women are EVERYTHING!! I mean black people in general are everything, but right now, this month especially, I’m focusing on BLACK WOMEN in all their greatness!
We’re so lit and inventive that we are highly mocked and hated on. But the blessing of it all is that we always stay at the top of the charts but unfortunately “they” would love to keep us at the bottom of the totem pole. HA! Not going to happen *looks at Nails*.
Black women are beautiful. From the way our skin absorbs the sun light all they way to the natural curve of our bodies. We’re also beautiful because we are so diverse! From our hair, skin, Body and personality. Black women are beautiful
Because though we are strong we can still be very feminine!
I can go on and ON about the beauty of black women. But although we are confident , we have faced many challenges. Majority of them are solely because of the color of our skin!
Growing up, i had always been a free spirited person. Very social and i enjoyed making new friends. When i enters middle school, all of that
changed. I was teased and bullied because of my dark complexion. I would hear things like “you would be much prettier if you weren’t so black” or I’ll hear things like “what part of Africa are you from”. As if that’s even a damn insult.
I began to really hate the way i look. Crying to God asking him why did he make me look like this. I became very depressed. And the sad part about that is i was only 11 years old feeling this way. But fortunately through the grace of God, i have over came my deep depression and began to love myself all over again...
After healing, i realized i wanted to create something that shines a positive light on every day- Black women! A place where they can openly speak on how it has been for them growing up and what are some of the challenges they may face as an a adult in the work field. But all in all, i wanted a place where we can share our stories to encourage ,uplift , and build each other up. And that is when MELANIN MADAMS was created !
This will make the second year with the Melanin Madam series. This series so far has made me so happy in so many ways and one of them being because it takes place in March which is the month we celebrate women’s history! Another reason why M.M makes me so happy is because we can build a bond tighter like none other through it. We can all let go of the “light skin is better” or “the dark skin is better” BS and actually see the we are all ONE. Because if no one else is going to be there for us, we should be there for each other!
Thank you for reading this all the way through. I hope you enjoyed this post and got a little insight on the Melanin Madams series. I also hope you follow along with this journey which i pray to God goes very far ❤️
Stay tune for the next Post. Melanin Madam: Earl The Poet is up next !
